After a sluggish start, Serena Williams sealed her spot in the US Open semi-finals by annihilating 17th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets.
According to the New York Post, although Williams has played brilliantly thus far (the only player yet to drop a set) she will have to be that and twice more in order to emerge victorious over top seeded Caroline Wozniacki. Some continuing issues she’s encountered is keeping and maintaining her serve.
“I don’t know. For me it was a slow start, and once I lost serve, I was determined to break serve so I wouldn’t be down a break. Then I just kept losing serve in the beginning. Very weird.”
Williams continued;
“I tried to move my feet a little better and just tried to get pumped up, because I felt like I wasn’t at my best. But I felt like I just tried to do a little better, do everything just a little bit better.”
Williams’ father, Richard Williams, agreed, telling The Post;
“If she’s going to win, she’s going to have to play better than what she did yesterday.”
However, Williams didn’t just have her family’s support cheering her from the stands; celebrity besties LaLa Vasquez, Ciara, and Kim Kardashian were also on hand.
The three ladies kept a cool, and low profile in dark shades and stylish wears as they eagerly watched Serena win in straight sets.
Serena Williams will need this supportive collective and her tremendous skills to propel her to victory Saturday evening in her toughest match thus far. With that said, we’re expecting to see Serena hoist up the trophy at Sunday’s final.
