The 13th season of Dancing With The Stars will soon be underway and this cast may prove to be the most interesting if not the most controversial to date.
Nancy Grace, Chaz Bono, Ron Artest, David Arquette, J.R. Martinez, Rob Kardashian, Ricki Lake, Kristin Cavallari, Chynna Phillips, Hope Solo, Carson Kressley, and Elisabetta Canalis are the names leading this motley crew of celebrities/reality TV stars, show hosts, and athletes.
Nancy Grace and Chaz Bono are garnering the most attention – albeit not all favorable. Nancy, who is traditionally known for her outrage and stern demeanor as the host of Nancy Grace on HSN, will probably find herself in the midst of a love/hate bubble. Her fans will come from a base who champions her passion in regards to exposing the criminal element, while her criticisms will most likely come from those who find her temperament to range from judgmental and irrational to overly abrasive and insensitive.
Chaz Bono, who is presently the most famous transgender celebrities out there, presents an interesting predicament given his controversial decision to undergo a sex change just over a year ago. According to NPR, Chaz’s inclusion has already drawn praise from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which also praised the inclusion of Carson Kressley, who’s openly gay. However, he will still undoubtedly draw criticisms from voters who don’t agree with his lifestyle.
Hope Solo and JR Martinez emerge as the sentimental favorites. Solo failed in her attempt at a World Cup victory and Martinez is a young war veteran turned motivational speaker.
Ron Artest on the other hand may also find himself in a love/hate bubble given his recent on court antics during the Lakers failed title run. However his altruistic charities may eventually aid him in ascending as a potential fan favorite.
So what are your thoughts? Do you think the judges will warm up to Nancy Grace and help her shift her icy reputation? Or will Chaz Bono surprise the audience with his graceful moves? Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday September 19th – Will you watch?
