Kanye West and Jay-Z make a days work look like loads of fun. The duo who collaborated to create the most highly anticipated album of 2011, Watch The Throne, looks like they were best buds from grade school. Never mind that Jay-Z was skeptical of Kanye’s rapping ability when he first joined the game or the most recent reports of their beef behind close doors. At this point, Kanye has proven Jay-Z wrong and Jay-Z has cleared up the beef rumors – though he does admit that they argue like brothers and squash it. And that’s exactly the vibe in this video, brothers on a really good day.
The video, directed by “Where the Wild Things Are” director Spike Jonze opens with a crisp Mercedes Maybach that is quickly torched and transformed into a makeshift convertible. Over the backdrop of an American Flag and the sample of Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness”, Jay-Z and Kanye spit of their rhymes.
The single was highly criticized for it’s ill-timing giving the current state of the economy and international disasters – which may reason why the Maybach in the video will be auctioned and proceeds will go towards the East African Drought Disaster.
Take a look at Jay-Z and Kanye West in Otis – what do you think?
