Jay-Z and Beyonce no doubt make a great musical team – when Beyonce released her solo album Crazy In Love featuring her hubby Jay-Z, they struck gold. Crazy in Love remains amongst her top selling singles. So it’s not surprising that Bey would join Jay on his highly anticipated and critically acclaimed album Watch the Throne.
Bey brings in the chorus in Lift Off, “We gonna take it to the moon, take it to the stars / how many people you know can take it this far.”
Yet despite the soaring lyrics Idolator critics Bey’s place on the track,
Don’t get us wrong – “Lift Off” is a decent enough tune. But when the Queen B is involved, we have just come to expect something a bit larger and hook-laden than what we’re served here. In other words, we do have lift off. We’re just not sure exactly how much fuel is in this craft’s tank.
You can take a listen below. If hip hop is not your cup of tea, Beyonce will perform her entire album 4 to an intimate crowd for 4 nights in New York City’s Roseland Ballroom from August 14, 16, 18, and 19. What do you think of the Beyonce’s chorus on Lift Off?
