Katy Perry has broken out of the pop pact into her own stratosphere! If you recall, Rihanna completed a Glamour interview where she stated, ‘There’s a pack. It’s me, Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce’. Many debated that a few pop queens should have been included, even Perry’s addition was in question.
Despite the criticism, Katy Perry has set herself apart from Rihanna’s pop pact and has landed into a conversation with non-other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
This week Perry snagged her 5th number one single for Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) off her Teenage Dream Album. This edges Perry past other mega albums such as Lady GaGa’s The Fame and Justin Timberlake’s FutreSex/LoveSounds which both yielded four top 40 singles.
Katy’s Teenage Dream would now join Michael Jackson’s Bad as the only albums in the Hot 100’s 53-year history to produce five No. 1 singles. The only thing left to do is surpass Jackson’s record.
If that wasn’t enough to keep Katy in high spirits; she is also poised to take over this years VMA’s by pushing past veteran divas such as Rihanna and Beyonce to collect nine MTV Video Music Award Nominations.
(Katy Perry spotted out donning a new pink hair color – do you like?)
While Katy Perry’s longevity may remain in question she is no doubt leaving as many marks as possible in her trial.
