Rihanna recently opened up during her interview in the August 2011 issue of U.K’s Cosmopolitan Magazine that she believed men were hunters who needed to be kept in their place. Rihanna is certainly no stranger to controversy. From her racy lyrics in songs such as S&M or Man Down, to her tumultuous relationship with ex boyfriend Chris Brown; it seems that much of Rihanna’s personal life often plays out in full public display.
Rihanna elaborated on her feelings regarding keeping men at bay by stating;
“Men like the thrill of the chase when it comes to pursuing a mate, so you have to keep em guessing. I’m like that too. I get bored fast. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.”
“I’m open to love. But guys should have to earn it. Because the minute they get it, they want something else.”
“I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing.”
Ultimately Rihanna acknowledged the difficulties of dating someone outside the industry who might not be as equipped in handling the complexities that follow an international superstar.
“It can definitely be intimidating to guys to date someone in this industry. And it’s really hard to find a guy who doesn’t care about that stuff.”
Rihanna has been linked to Young Money artist Drake since her LOUD tour stopped in Canada, however the pair have neither confirmed nor deny the rumor. Rihanna will take her tour back to the UK this September which will surely have plenty of controversy and fan fair to follow.
