Joining Forces: Tyler, The Creator Brings Kanye West Onstage at LA Festival

tyler-the-creator-kanye-westThe Rap group Odd Future is a representation of a new generation of musicians who don’t buy into the status quo in the music industry. The group, which is led by Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, continue to redefine the industry by independently creating and distributing their own music and movies, and arranging their own concerts. This year at their annual  OFWGKTA Carnival in Los Angeles, Odd Future brought out rap star Kanye West, who also embodies a defiant spirit.

According to rap-up.com:

“Odd Future celebrated its second annual OFWGKTA Carnival with a Ferris wheel, skatepark, and even Kanye West. The hip-hop collective took over The Park at the L.A. Coliseum on Saturday for a fun-filled day. The festivities included rides, food trucks and live music, and capped off with headlining performances from Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean.

“After Lil Wayne crashed the stage in 2012, Kanye West was this year’s surprise guest. The G.O.O.D. Music boss, who called Tyler his “mentor” in a recent interview, performed “New Slaves” and his “Late Registration” cut “Late,” but not before Tyler asked him for a hug.”

After West surprised the crowd, Tyler handed off the OFWGKTA show to Frank Ocean to close it out.
