DJ Enferno’s ‘Live Remix Project’ a Chance to Appreciate the Performance DJ – Video

With the uproar surrounding DJs who simply “push buttons” in the Electronic Dance Music scene, now is the right time to introduce DJ Enferno.

Embedded in the scene since childhood, Enferno, who is also a trained pianist, won 2nd place in the DMC Championship of 2003 and was subsequently Madonna’s DJ for her 2008-09 tour. His accomplishments make one thing evident: the man’s got talent.

Not only are his skills in scratching and mixing apparent in his sets, his ability to perform live remixes is astonishing, distinguishing him from your average CD-toting, button-pushing club DJ.

Enferno brings along a little twist: he turns what you hear into something tangible – and it’s that very fact that captures the audience. It’s beautiful really, witnessing how every one of his movements corresponds to another bump, another grind and another fist pump in the crowd.

Now I’m not placing Enferno (not yet at least) on the level of say Tiesto, Deadmau5 or Kaskade—he has yet to earn that kind of public recognition, but there is definitely something to be said about liveDJing. It is literally an exhibition of a fundamental step in music production, known as arrangement, happening right before your eyes…
