R&B power house Mary J. Blige has recruited pop power house Beyonce for ‘Love A Woman’. Mary J. Blige’s ‘Love A Woman’ will be featured on her upcoming album “My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1).” The track features Beyonce’s signature sass which blends well with Mary’s soulful deliver. Mary sings, “A woman, she needs more than material things/ A woman, needs so much more than what I make her say.” Beyonce adds, “A woman, needs you to make love to her, she needs more than sex/ Oh, a real woman needs a real man.”
According to the producer of the single Sean Garrett, the song was originally written for Beyonce’s ‘4’ album but after some consideration Garrett opted to recruit Mary J. Blige and Beyonce for a more soulful song.
“I initially did the record for Beyoncé and then we just felt it would be an even bigger record with Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige,” he explained to Rap-Up. “Both these women are two iconic female figures in the world, and what would be better than putting those two on a record? We felt it would be a really iconic move.”
“Both Mary and Beyoncé did an incredible job vocally. It just epitomizes the soulfulness, the integrity of real women, and it couldn’t come at a more climactic time.”
Mary’s album “My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1)” drops November 21st.
