Just two months after Robin Roberts was given the clear to return to her hosting spot on “Good Morning America” she was hospitalized last week during a vacation to Florida where she suffered from “opportunistic infections.”
Hearts all over the nation stopped when news broke that Robin Roberts was headed back to the hospital once again, but the joyful host took to Facebook to explain the situation and let her fans know that she was perfectly fine.
“In the middle of my Key West vacation, I began not to feel well,” she wrote on Facebook. “Nothing serious, just under the weather. I contacted my doctors and flew back to NYC. They felt it best to admit me into the hospital for a few days. Seems my young immune system needed a little boost to fight off “opportunistic infections.”
Robin spent a lot of time during her recovery process trying to slowly allow her body to get used to the hectic environment of being on the show, but even then complications were still something she couldn’t avoid.
Her doctors made it clear that it had nothing to do with her going back to work or trying to do too much.
“My doctors assured me that this was NOT because I was working or doing too much, too soon.” Roberts explained. “It’s extremely common, post bone marrow transplant, to have complications. I’m blessed that mine have not been severe.”
She will be joining her ‘GMA’ family once again on air next week after she spends some time at home to recover.
