Amar’e Stoudemire and his wife Alexis are expecting their fourth baby boy or girl together after recently getting married back in December.
Amar’e is excited about his fourth child on the way and claims that he and his wife are very “blessed” to be expecting a new addition to their family.
“We’re blessed that we were able to extend our family,” said the 30-year-old New York Knicks player. “We’re both huge on having a nice size family. It was something we’ve been talking about for a while. It happened naturally and at the right time so it all worked out.”
The fourth Stoudemire baby is expected to arrive some time in spring and will be welcomed by 7-year-old Ar’e, 6-year-old Amar’e Jr., and 4-year-old Assata.
Amar’e says that his growing family is certainly a “beautiful thing” especially after he finally married his long time girlfriend on 12-12-12.
The 29-year-old mother of three (with number four on the way), is so excited about the news that even morning sickness can’t get her down.
“It was just perfect timing,” Alexis told PEOPLE with excitement. She went on to say that although she has been suffering from morning sickness she “can’t complain.”
As for the kids, they have been thrilled with the baby news and have spent their spare time trying to guess if they will have a little sister or brother.
“They’re very, very excited,” Alexis continued. “They just keep guessing if it’s a boy or girl.”
Even the soon to be father of four admitted that he “can’t wait to know what it is.”
His wife isn’t surprised that he and the kids playing baby guessing games together because he has always been such a big kid at heart.
“As soon as Amar’e walks into the door those kids are all over him,” Alexis said. “He’s like a big kid. He’s a great dad.”
The couple is clearly head over heels in love with one another because Amar’e responded by praising his wife for being the amazing woman she is.
While he is on the road with his NBA family, he admits that his wife “does it all” and does “such a phenomenal job with the kids.”
Amar’e and Alexis (who seem to be building their own version of a Kardashian clan… except with “A” names) married in December and had a small, private ceremony with close friends and family – just what Alexis wanted.
“It was beautiful to have a private ceremony with close friends and family,” Amar’e’s wife said. “I planned it; I wanted to have something that was more spiritual where we could really understand what being married means. It was a great way to end 2012.”
She may have loved the small wedding, but it seems like the NBA star really wanted to give his long time lover a lavish fairy tale wedding.
“We’re planning a big, extravagant Cinderella wedding for Alexis,” The Knicks player interjected after Alexis shared her joy over the small wedding ceremony.
The ceremony may have been small but the price tag on the wedding ring sure wasn’t
Alexis Stoudemire’s new bling is an 8 and a half carat diamond ring designed by Afshar that cost more than $1 million.
