Beverly Hills Cop TV Show – Eddie Murphy and his 80s character Axel Foley is coming to the small screen. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine the Oscar nominated actor confirmed that the fast-talking detective will return in Beverly Hills Cop as a TV show and also insisted he’s done with sequels…time will tell on that one.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “What I’m trying to do with ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I’d do the pilot, show up here and there.”
The Beverly Hills Cop series went through three different directors including the late Tony Scott. Rumors were abound of Beverly Hills Cops 4 but Eddie hopes to avoid the inconsistencies of the film series. “None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force this premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn’t be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong.”
For the small screen Eddie recruited Shawn Ryan, creator of ‘The Shield’ and Sony Pictures Television.
On the topic of sequels Murphy added, “I’m some kind of sequel champion, I did more sequels than anybody. I did my share of sequels for now, anyways.”
Who do you think should play Eddie Murphy’s son on the TV show?
