Dutch magazine, Jackie, is standing by it’s story that Rihanna is the ‘Ultimate N*gga B*tch’. When the story broke the magazine received numerous letters and emails from people who were offended by the racial slur. Jackie’s editor in chief, Eva Hoeke, stated the article was intended as joke. After much back and fourth, Hoeke was forced to resign. It appeared that the magazine was ready to issue an officially apology to Rihanna. No such thing. It’s publisher Yves Gijrath had this to say,
“[T]here is nothing wrong in the magazine. [Hoeke] presented [the offensive article] as a joke, but it most certainly was not a joke. It was an interpretation [of a fashion style] … She should have said: “we did not realize this interpretation is such a touchy subject. We never meant any harm and offer our sincere and upright apologies.” But because of all the fuss, Eva started to wiggle in all directions, and therefore we have come to the conclusion her credibility has been undermined.”
Essentially she’s blaming her publisher for bucking as oppose to owning responsibility for the blatant racism.
