Kobe Bryant – Former basketball star Charles Barkley appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” this week and sounded off on a multitude of topics, including Kobe Bryant’s pending divorce from Vanessa Bryant. During the interview, Leno asked whether there would be trust lost between Kobe and his teammates as a result of the rumor that Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s divorce was sparked in part by his teams basketball wives gossip.
“That’s never good for a team,” Barkley said. “You keep your wives and girlfriends away from each other.”
Barkley said Bryant should be prepared for fans shouting their disapproval, but he expects the Lakers’ star to stay focused.
“He’s going to have to deal with it, but he’s so strong mentally, I think he’ll be fine,” Barkley said.
Vanessa and Kobe filed for divorce on Friday citing the usual irreconcilable differences. Vanessa signed the papers on December 1st and Kobe signed his response on December 7th. Vanessa requested that the couple be given joint custody of their children, Natalia, 8, and Gianna, 5. Sources tell TMZ, that Vanessa Bryant is ending the marriage because she believes Kobe has been unfaithful, again.
