‘He Had a Stroke’: Trump’s Latest Photo Sets Off a Frenzy as His Drooping Appearance Sparks Fresh Questions About His Health

Images of President Donald Trump marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at the Pentagon are sparking concerns and more questions about his health.

A series of photos show Trump’s face drooping on the right side. At times he appears to fall asleep as the names of the 184 victims killed at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, were read aloud Friday morning.

The incident is renewing speculation that Trump suffered a stroke sometime in the past year, possibly late last summer.

At an event he attended back then, his face appeared to droop noticeably, worse than the newest photos show.

A frenzy of theories and accusations over Trump’s health erupted online as social media commenters pointed out how secretive the administration has been about it.

“He had a stroke and they are covering it up,” a Threads user proclaimed

Others agreed, “You’ll never convince me he’s not hiding MULTIPLE health problems and events. That is the face of a stroke victim.”

An X user pointed out, “I’m not a dr but that’s not normal.”

AlterNet cited a doctor who said certain obvious neurological symptoms during Trump’s speech in another 9/11 ceremony this one on the Ellipse, Tuesday, are a “concern.”

The medical expert said the president appeared to “struggle with language production” and involuntary physical “glitches,” which could indicate a serious health condition.

Another incident occurred Aug. 28, when Trump spoke at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. When he briefly paused during his address, his body appeared to jerk, and his arms moved in quick succession before he continued talking. On its own, the moment might have passed unnoticed.

Instead, a clinical and forensic psychologist has since analyzed footage of the episode and raised red flags about whether Trump’s unusual lapse could point to something more serious.

Georgia-based clinical and forensic psychologist John Paul Garrison said Trump’s movements were consistent with a possible focal aware seizure, also known as a partial seizure.

Then last year, speculation ran rampant that Trump had suffered a stroke last summer.

Washington State University Professor of medicine Dr. Bruce Davidson told the podcast “The Court of History” back in January that he thinks it was on the “left side of the brain, which controls the right side of the body,” according to The Daily Beast.

If Trump did suffer a stroke, it would explain troubling symptoms that have been obvious for some time, although Davidson did say he thought the President has been making a remarkable recovery.

“There are videos of him shuffling his feet, which is not what we’d seen previously when he was striding on the golf course. We’ve seen him holding his right hand cradled in his left. Earlier in 2025, he was garbling words, which he hadn’t done before and which he’s improved upon more recently,” Davidson said on the podcast.

Additionally, Trump has exhibited other health concerns, including swollen ankles from a condition known as chronic venous insufficiency, which affects many older Americans. He also has regular bruising on his hands, which could be related to thinning skin from a high dose of aspirin he’s been taking for decades.

He regularly falls asleep at meetings and public events, loses his focus during speeches, devolves into long, rambling tirades, and slurs his speech.

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
