Two women. Same season. Same four-letter accusation
“Love Island USA” wrapped season 8 weeks ago, but the fandom never clocked out. And it has now forced a second cast member to go online and publicly announce that she is not MAGA.
The latest is Jen Terry, and what makes her case different is that she didn’t post anything. She allegedly tapped a heart on someone else’s.
TikTok users surfaced screenshots of Instagram posts Terry had reportedly liked. One showed a field planted with dozens of Israeli flags.
Another showed a guitar with a Confederate flag design. The screenshots were unverified, but they spread like wildfire. And within a day the question dominating her comments was whether the fan favorite was a Trump supporter.
She finally answered on Wednesday, Aug 12, on her Instagram Stories.
“I’ve seen everything online over the past 24 hours and to answer your questions No, I am not MAGA,” Terry wrote.
She also shot down a secondary theory making the rounds that she had shut off her TikTok comments and DMs to hide from the backlash. “They have been off for days due to an internal glitch that is out of my control,” she said.
Terry closed with a statement of values. “My platform will never be a place that supports or tolerates hate of any kind. I’m here to spread love and positivity, and I care deeply about the community I’m building and making sure everyone feels safe and welcome here.”
The damage had already registered. Fan trackers, including commentator reyathelastdragon reported Terry shed more than 15,000 Instagram followers as the allegations circulated. That’s the kind of number that matters in a franchise where post-villa follower counts are the actual prize.
Terry entered the villa on Day 7 of season 8 and was dumped on Day 25, coupling up with Gabriel Vasconcelos during her run. Peacock’s reunion special is set for Aug. 31.
Which brings us back to the cast mate who went through all of this first.
Kenzie Annis, who entered season 8 on Day 1 and was dumped just before the finale, spent weeks responding to claims she was a Trump supporter after fans circulated screenshots that appeared to show her in front of Trump flags.
Not to mention a video where she was recording herself with friends in front of a large Trump backdrop, as seen in a TikTok video.
Meanwhile, Annis’ father told TMZ in May that no one in the family supports Trump, and her brother, Alden, made a TikTok saying the same. The claims “couldn’t be further from the truth,” he shared.
Annis eventually addressed it herself in July during an Instagram Live, and she was not gentle about it.
“That’s so funny ’cause I’m not a Trump supporter, so you guys can f— the f— off,” she said. “Just because I’m blond and white doesn’t mean I’m a f—ing Trump supporter. What the hell?”
The vetting didn’t come from nowhere though. Season 7 saw two contestants exit the villa after racist content surfaced. Yulissa Escobar was booted over resurfaced podcast clips in which she used the N-word, per Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, Cierra Ortega over posts containing an anti-Chinese slur. Ortega reportedly lost hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers within days, per Social Blade data cited by NBC News.
That season taught the fandom a lesson it has not unlearned. The receipts are usually already online, and nobody is waiting for the network to find them.
Terry denied the label, but she did not address the likes. Fans think that this particular distinction is doing a lot of work, and the fandom noticed. “No, I am not MAGA” answers a question about her politics, but it does not answer the question about her thumb.
