Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker Sued Over 2020 Shooting at Their ‘Old Lady Gang’ Restaurant That Injured a 14-year-old

Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, are being sued over a shooting that injured a 14-year-old at their family restaurant. The first Old Lady Gang opened in 2018 in the Camp Creek Marketplace shopping center in the Atlanta suburb of East Point.

Court documents reveal Tammy Johnson, and her teenage daughter, Kiya Humphries, visited the shopping center on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020. They were accompanied by another relative and two other children. The legal claim says they encountered a loud argument taking place in the parking lot before they entering OLG.

“While waiting to be seated at Old Lady Gang, a man wearing a red tracksuit entered Old Lady Gang and was near the front of the restaurant,” the document states. “Shortly afterward, a second man entered Old Lady Gang.”

It states that “the man wearing the red tracksuit began shooting. Kiya Humphries was shot in the right calf.”

“Kiya Humphries has experienced severe physical and emotional pain and suffering as a result of the gunshot wound, she sustained,” the suit reads. She reportedly suffered a gunshot wound that required outpost medical treatment, including multiple surgeries, therapy and counseling to heal from with the traumatic experience.

The owners of the shopping center where OLG is located and their security team were also named in the suit. Humphries believes the business knew additional security was needed in response to a pattern of criminal acts that took place at the shopping center.

Humphries is seeking an unspecified amount for negligence, claiming that her family was unaware of the ongoing frequency of crimes at the shopping center. She believes they did not hire effective security despite numerous reports of crimes involving robberies, assaults, and firearms.

Local station 11Alive reports that three individuals were shot and injured during the 2020 shooting, including the intended target. The outlet spoke with two witnesses at the time, including one who said she heard two “pops” before running to safety.

A day later, Burruss shared her thoughts about the matter and sent condolences to the injured parties.

“My family and I are truly saddened by the unfortunate events that occurred at Old Lady Gang (OLG) Camp Creek, on the evening of February 14th, an evening that was meant to celebrate love, unfortunately turned into something quite different,” the entertainer wrote on Twitter before continuing on Instagram.

“Our prayers and thoughts go out to the individuals that were harmed or in any way negatively impacted,” she wrote in the caption. “We are aware that this matter is being actively investigated by law enforcement and we are cooperating with law enforcement to bring to justice those involved.”

In addition to prayers, the “Real Housewives Star of Atlanta” included a photo that read “God’s got you.” The 46-year-old further elaborated on the history of violent crimes in the area while reflecting on her time as a black business owner.

“As African-American business owners, it has been our goal to invest in our community by bringing jobs, quality dining, and a positive experience to the greater Atlanta area; we hope that you know and understand that the acts of violence that occurred yesterday evening do not, in any way, serve as a reflection of OLG or its values,” she continued.
