Robin Roberts Visits ‘GMA’ Set, Prepping For Return

Today, Robin Roberts made a dramatic return to the Good Morning America set for the first time since she underwent bone marrow surgery. She didn’t appear on-camera though, the TV host arrived this morning at 5 a.m.EST for a series of tests to calculate when she’ll be able to make her official return.

“What a thrill to be back at GMA’s Times Square Studio this morning and see the best folks in the world, my GMA family,” Roberts said. “I can’t wait to get back to the anchor chair in a few weeks.”  Roberts said it was her doctors’ decision for her to appear after her latest medical tests showed normal progress.

“My doctors want me to see how many people I actually come in contact with. How my body reacts to the stimulation, that’s code word for stress, of being in the studio environment,” she said.

She continued, “My skin is very sensitive and so we have to see how it reacts to the studio lights. My vision is still a little blurry from the treatment.”  She added, “All of this is getting better day by day, so that is the next step.”

Last year, Roberts had a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare disease that affects the bone marrow.
