Steve Harvey Visibly Moved by Surprise Call Into His Talk Show

“I just have one question. Do you still love me, baby?” That is the inquiry that stirred Steve Harvey’s emotions during his popular daytime television show. While the question might sound innocent enough, to the Think Like A Man author it was much more meaningful. It was an sentimental reminder of where he came from.

On the birthday celebration episode of the Steve Harvey Show, Rich Liss phoned in to ask the comedian, “I just have one question. Do you still love me, baby?”  Liss was a furniture store owner from Cleveland. During the segment, Harvey explained why the call was so significant.

“I was 26 years old, struggling. I didn’t have nothing and these people owned a furniture store in Cleveland. They took me in and gave me a contract with my little carpet-cleaning company. When I became a comedian at 27, I didn’t have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency and I ran up a bill that was $11,000 just traveling and trying to make it. Those people right there, they helped me out.”

The production staff did some investigation to uncover the whereabouts of Mr. Liss. Steve Harvey claimed that he’d been looking for him for years and the discovery by the production staff was complete surprise.
