‘Been a Boss’: Fans Praise Kandi Burruss After She Posts This ‘Iconic’ Throwback Image

Kandi Burruss reminded her fans just how long she’s been slaying a little thing called the music industry with a recent throwback image shared on Instagram.

Posing with the gold plaque that Xscape’s 1993 debut album “Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha” earned, a then-17-year-old Kandi is seen smiling from ear to ear as she celebrates the accomplishment with no idea at the time that it was only the beginning of her bright and lengthy career.

“A throwback to me being excited about my first gold plaque for our first #Xscape album,” the now 44-year-old captioned the image, which gained over 37,7000 likes. “17yrs old in the 12 grade selling records with my girls Xscape! Those were some amazing memories. That album went on to sell platinum. #hummincominatcha #TBT.”

In addition to Burruss, the group also consisted of Tameka “Tiny” Cottle — who has long since been known as Tiny Harris after marrying T.I. — and sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott. Their hit debut album went on to become certified platinum in 1994 and produced two of the groups’ most notable hits, “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding.”

Seeing the image of a young Kandi at the beginning of her career journey and knowing how much she’s gone on to accomplish through songwriting, singing, and entrepreneurship inspired fans, who made sure to give her her flowers in the comments.

“It’s the cassette tape for me tho lol!! This dope Kandi!” complimented a follower.

“ICONIC,” a second remarked.

“You’re a living LEGEND 🙌🏾👑💕,” praised a third.

“That’s a huge accomplishment at such a young age, you’re inspirational 🙌🏾🔥❤️,” a fourth wrote.

“Been a boss 🔥🔥🔥,” stated a fifth.

“And we are still here for that album!!!!!!” a sixth exclaimed.

Xscape’s last hit studio album, “Traces of My Lipstick,” was released in 1998, and after a brief reunion in 2017 of XSCAP3 — made up of Harris and the Scott sisters — to make new music, fans are still holding out hope that all of the ladies will drop new music together in the future.
