Filming during COVID-19 and the status of Nene Leakes as a cast member were among the topics Cynthia Bailey of “The Real Housewives Of Atlanta” spilled a little tea on during a recent interview.
Bailey, who talked of how filming consists of wearing masks and having their homes, from which they’re taping, regularly disinfected, appeared on the Sept. 2 episode of E! News’ “Just The Sip.” Regarding her “RHOA” co-star Nene Leakes, the 52-year-old reality star said she hasn’t filmed anything with her up to this point.
“I don’t really have any real answers for you, to be honest,” she said at the 21:03 mark of the interview. “All I know is what I read and see on the blogs too. So, I can just tell you, I haven’t filmed anything with her yet or seen her. So, that’s that.” Bailey added that it’s not “super unusual” for castmates to still be negotiating their contracts months into the process.
On Aug. 25, fans noticed Leakes deleted her Instagram page, after posting a series of cryptic posts, following her alleged departure on season 13 of the hit reality show.
Despite the end result, Bailey expressed she will always have love for Leakes. “Nene and I are where we are now, but for a long time she was a very, very good friend of mine, who I loved very much, who I still have love for,” Cynthia expressed. “I want her to do what is best for her … She was one of the O.G.s on the show. You know, when you think of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ you do think of Nene. I hope they work it out … but that’s between her and the network.”
The “RHOA” alum revealed although she’s happy to be working, it’s different shooting a reality show during a pandemic. “Excited to be back at work,” she said at the 1:35 mark. “We’re trying to make this show happen, you know. Kudos to Bravo for that, because it’s been very challenging, you know, respecting the COVID rules, and, you know, regular testing’s a huge part of it.”
Although the premiere date hasn’t been set, one thing is for sure, this season is gonna be juicy.
