‘What’s Up With the Madea Church Hat?’: Fans Tease Steve Harvey’s Look in Throwback Photo

Steve Harvey is known for being one of the sharpest men in Hollywood due to his signature pressed suits, but his title seems to have gotten revoked overnight. On Wednesday, April 29, the 63-year-old comedian took to the ’Gram to send his son Broderick Harvey Jr. a birthday message. Steve shared an old photo of the father-son duo all dressed up while attending the 2019 Kentucky Derby, but it was Steve’s hat that caused fans to tease him about his apparel.

Broderick, 29, wore a gray plaid suit, while Steve donned a white suit and pink shirt that matched the color of the wide-brimmed church hat he wore. Both men sported green ties in addition to dark sunglasses. The “Think Like a Man” author gushed over his son’s accomplishments in the post. In his caption he wrote, “Hella proud of you SON….!!! HAPPY A-S BIRTHDAY BOY!!”

Harvey takes significant care of his formal wear. He showed his alleged stylist how to steam and iron his suit jacket in an Instagram post that dates back to February. Harvey credits his humble beginnings for teaching him how to care for his clothing. He told his stylist, “You young. I ironed all my clothes. I ain’t have no stylist, I ain’t have nothing. I had to do all of this, man. I didn’t have no money for no cleaning bill, I ain’t have none of that.”

The “Family Feud” host currently has a suit line at Sears, Belk, Kohls, and a few other department stores. Items in his clothing line retail for between $20 to $100, depending on the garment. However, Harvey no longer wears linen suits, opting for designer wear instead.
