R&B singer Keyshia Cole debuted her new haircut this week, leaving fans enamored.
Cole apparently cut her hair sometime last week after feeling compelled to start a healthy hair journey, also indicating that she’s going through some obstacles in life.
The “Love” artist took to Instagram on Monday evening with an image of herself seemingly headed down a road in a vehicle somewhere. Cole, who’s known for rocking a variety of hair colors and hairstyles over the years, opted for a simplistic natural short black pixie cut, pairing her look with an oversized sweater and black cat-eye sunglasses.
Along with wanting to start a new healthy natural hair journey, the “I Changed My Mind” musician indicated that her haircut was also a symbol of new beginnings.
“Decided to cut my hair last week, been feeling compelled to do so for months now😩 Tired of living a Unhealthy hair life 🤦🏽♀️,” Cole wrote in an Instagram post on April 2. “On another note, there’s some serious change going on right now, Me, Myself … I’m ALWAYS TRYING, AND PRAYING, I change for the better.”
She continued, “Some of us don’t come from the best circumstances, BUT it’s very commendable to push through it EVERYDAY with faith and determination!!!! With LOOOOOOOVE ❤️ in my heart, I’m praying for EVERYONE in the WORLD.”
She received a slew of compliments from those who were moved by her inspirational message and from others who adored her new haircut.
“I cut my hair too @keyshiacole and I’m loving it! Embracing the new me! I feel free and ready for change!! Proud of you I love your cut ❤️🥰👊🏽.”
“Your set back is your COMEBACK!!! I see and speak greatness too you!!! PS: Short do looks good💖 looking like the Goddess you are 🖤.”
“You always look beautiful ❤️❤️!!! Love the short hair AND sweatshirt!!! Your message is on point 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼!!! Hope more and more people listen to it.”
Cole has been somewhat absent from social media and hasn’t released any new music since her last and seventh album “11: 11 Reset” in October 2017. She did tease fans in September about a possible eighth album. She wrote on Instagram in a now deleted post, “STUDIO VIBEZ WITH @midsidesound #StudioVibez #ALBUM #8.”
However, the 37-year-old artist is slated to be among the headliners at the St. Maarten Carnival later this month with Ashanti and Ja Rule. All three artists are penciled in for the April 25 Soulful Company concert during the 50th anniversary St. Maarten Carnival, which is set for April 20 to May 7.
May-Ling Chun, the St. Maarten Tourism Director, confirmed Cole, Ashanti and Ja Rule will be performing in their country.
“We’re so excited to welcome Ashanti, Keyshia Cole, and Ja Rule to St. Maarten,” Chu said in a released statement. “We cannot wait to see the energy that they bring to the stage.”
