It’s safe to say that a lot of fathers want their sons to follow in their footsteps and maybe share their passion for a particular field or craft.
And although it seems that most kids eventually find their own interest and careers, Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan may actually do what he did and play in the NBA.
There’s currently a video of the 11-year-old that hit the Internet on Monday that shows his impressive hoop skills. The clip has gotten a lot of attention, and ‘Melo posted it on his Instagram page as well.
“The future is now,” the 10-tine NBA All-Star wrote.
And ‘Melo’s enthusiasm doesn’t seem to be just that of a dad who’s proud of his kid regardless of skillset, because the clip indicates Kiyan has a true feel for the game.
In one part, he makes his opponent fall with a crossover dribble, then hoists a jump shot that hits all net.
Based on how Kiyan shoots and dribbles, he seems to be right-handed but is seen shooting with his left as well, which some might consider advanced for his age. There’s also another clip that shows him handling the ball like a point guard, dribbling between his legs and dishing the ball to a teammate.
After the clip surfaced, people had a lot to say about it.
“Ayyyeee lil Melo looking nice,” one person wrote. “I like the handles and that finish at the rim with the left.”
“He’s going to be one of the best NBA players ever, just like his dad. Just wait on it,” wrote another.
Meanwhile, ‘Melo is still in NBA limbo since he hasn’t played a game since Nov. 8, 2018 with the Houston Rockets, who let him go after 10 games. Last month he was traded to the Chicago Bulls before being waived on Feb. 1.
The 34-year-old, who is now a free agent, reportedly is being pursued by the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers.
