R&B singer Monica Brown appears to be fed up with the lack of support she’s receiving from others.
The 38-year-old artist recently dropped her new single “Commitment,” which appears to be getting a small amount of recognition. She took to her Instagram Story on Saturday and shared a post seemingly blasting her music industry friends for not resharing her new song on their social platforms.
“I’m not asking anyone to post my single, because they didn’t have to ask me!!” Monica exclaimed. “It’s who I am to support, not what I expect or have ever gotten in return!!!”
Shortly after the singer’s “support” outburst, social media users noticed that her friends Tiny Harris, Kandi Burruss, Toya Wright or Rasheeda Frost didn’t post her new single on their social platforms.
“Oh Monica. I hope she really didn’t believe all those people were really her friends,” one fan posted. “Well to be fair, Kandi is in the Big Brother house with Tamar so she isn’t able to post anything.”
Another added, “Ugh people who cry for someone to POST and support kill me. Do it yourself, don’t expect anyone to do it for you, not even your friends.”
One celeb who’s close to Monica, rapper T.I., posted her new joint on his Instagram page later that evening and told his fans to support her.
“My sister @monicabrown back at it again!!! #TrueAtownVeteran,” the “Troubleman” rapper wrote.
Monica offered her gratitude under T.I.’s comments and wrote, “Thank you I truly appreciate the support 🙏 !”
The “Why I Love You So Much” artist dropped “Commitment” on Friday, Jan. 11. The song is a ballad from the star’s ninth album, which was written by her and produced by Nova Wav. The single is about a woman looking for love even after a devastating breakup.
When Monica isn’t singing she’s working as a mortician. She appeared on T.I. and his wife’s reality show on season 1 of “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle” and revealed to viewers that “in addition to being a mom, an entrepreneur, and singer” she also works at a funeral home owned by her uncle. She stated that she makes it her duty to help families through the grieving process.
