Venus and Serena Williams arrived in Johannesburg for the second leg of their African tour yesterday and took part in a tennis clinic in Soweto.
The sisters put youngsters through their paces, and also took part in a game against wheelchair players. “We are looking forward to all the things we are going to do today, the tennis clinic, we are looking forward to the match of course, and of course we are looking forward to doing some tourist things in the few hours we have free,” Venus Williams told reporters at a news conference.
“We are going to do our best to enjoy every single moment here in South Africa.”
The sisters have already spent a few days in Lagos,Nigeria, where as well as coaching some of the city’s children, they took part in an exhibition match
“Now we are here in South Africa we want to do the same exact thing, have fun, empower people, empower kids, empower women, empower everyone, and we are feeling that us being here, we have an opportunity to do that,” SerenaWilliams said at the same media event.
“We are really honoured to be here and we are really excited for having this opportunity to break the mould here in South Africa and we hope that we can continue to do this year after year.”
