Lil’ Kim may be a few months late, but that hasn’t stopped her from being overjoyed about her shout out from the U.S. House of Representatives.
During Women’s History Month in March, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries recognized a top 10 list of the best female rap collaborations. He placed Lil’ Kim’s Mobb Deep “Quiet Storm (Remix)” feature at no. 1 for “representin’ BK to the fullest.”
“These extraordinary MCs along with legendary pioneers such as Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Sait n Pepa shattered hip hop’s glass ceiling with their skill, talent and lyrical ability,” the New York Democrat representing Brooklyn, Queens says. “These dynamic women are worthy to be praised.”
“OMG I can’t believe I’m just seeing this!! Thank you @repjeffries!!” Kim said on Instagram Monday, May 14. “I know Women’s History Month has passed, but since it was just Mother’s Day I want to give a big thank you to Congressman Jeffries for recognizing 🙌🏽😻💯 Understand how huge this is, this is the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!!! I feel so honored to be at the top #1 of the list. Being a woman in the industry is hard enough, so all the women making this list is an accomplishment. Now we just need to add my girlCardi B. Mother’s Day isn’t just once a year, it’s every day. Happy MUVAS Day! (Swipe for full video) #lilkim #queenbee #beehive.”
