NYC Police on the Hunt for Man Wearing MAGA Hat Who Allegedly Assaulted Hispanic Rider

New York City police officials are looking for a Black man wearing a red hat and t-shirt from President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” merchandise line after he allegedly assaulted a commuter at a Manhattan Subway station on Friday (April 20).

The suspect and the victim, a 24-year-old Hispanic man, got into an argument on the northbound 4 train around 8:15 p.m according to the police. The alleged attacker began punching the victim in his head while shouting a number of derogatory slurs at him. The suspect then followed the victim after stopping at Union Square/14th Street and pushed him onto the train tracks. The 24-year-old was helped by his friend and another person. He was taken to the hospital after suffering from cuts on his head.

NYPD and witnesses describe the man as a “Black male wearing a red hat and red shirt both with the words “Make America Great Again”, blue overalls, a black jacket, and jewelry around his neck.”

The is the second incident that happened in Union Square and related to MAGA apparel, ABC reports. A Danish tourist was robbed at knifepoint a week prior because of his “Make America Great Again” hat.
