Meek Mill’s legal team has made several attempts to have the rapper freed from prison and things are starting to look up for him. The judge who ordered Mill behind bars has just set a hearing date based on a post-conviction appeal that was filed by his attorneys.
Mill’s lawyers filed for Common Pleas Court Judge Genece Brinkley to overturn the rapper’s sentence on Wednesday and requested that he’d be given a new trial based on new court documents citing officer Reginald Graham as corrupt.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office covertly arranged a list of cops with a “history of racial bias, lying, and brutality and Graham happened to be on the list. New documents showcased Graham’s history of dirty arrests and a sworn affidavit by former Philadelphia officer Jerold Gibson stated that Graham lied about Mill pointing a gun at the officer or anyone else reported by “The Philadelphia Inquirer”. Gibson also accuses Graham’s of lying under oath.
The “Dreams and Nightmares” artist was sentenced to 2-4 years for a probation violation in state prison by judge Brinkley.
The recent motion filed by Mill’s attorneys is the last attempt to fight his conviction. So far people have rallied at City Hall and 400,000 supporters have signed an online petition asking the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons to grant the rapper relief.
The post-conviction hearing is set for Monday, April 16.
