While many have been cheering as “Insecure” characters Issa and Lawrence go through their so-called hoe phase, a chorus of criticism has rung out over the apparent nonexistent condom usage on the hit HBO show.

Well, star/creator Issa Rae hears it loud and clear.

Her explanation for why condoms aren’t used when Lawrence and Issa are getting it on with abandon? The protection is being used, it’s just implied.

After the season 2 episode, “Hella L.A.” aired Sunday, Aug. 13, many unleashed a slew of questions about why safe sex wasn’t promoted on the hit series.

While the condom issue has a lot of folks talking as of late, some actually brought up the topic when the new season premiered.

Still, many backed Issa and voiced opposition to making a show responsible for advocating for safe sex.

And some called out the plain ole hypocrisy of calling out “Insecure” while giving a pass to other shows like “Power,” which notably airs hot and heavy scenes on the regular.
