On Sept. 7, a trio of West Virginia University Tech volleyball players decided to join in on San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest in Montgomery, West Virginia.
According to FOX 11 Eyewitness News, three women took a knee during the “Star Spangled Banner” before Wednesday’s game.
Volleyball player and vice president of the Black Student Union at WVU Tech Keyonna Morrow tells reporters that Kaepernick has a right to protest.
“He’s exercising his right to choose to sit or stand. So you have to recognize that he’s got that right,” Morrow says. “I hope that it just makes people reconsider before they judge someone for something.”

The student athlete adds that Kaepernick’s protest promotes equality — something everyone should aspire to.
