3 Historic Black Homes in Detroit Burned Down, Neighbors Suspect Foul Play

Earlier this week, three homes in Detroit’s historic African-American Black Bottom District neighborhood burn down sparking allegations of foul play.

According to a news report by Detroit’s Fox 2, Black resident Jerome Simpson told reporters, “When they came out the second time, the [fire] LT. said he went up there and found fresh containers of gasoline.”

The historic Black neighborhood was a Jazz and Blues cultural center in the 1930s and 40s. Now, the residents are trying to bring it back to its former glory.
