5-Year-Old Black Special Needs Child Hung by Belt on a Blackboard in Georgia

The grandmother of a 5-year-old Georgia special needs child is concerned over the discipline method her grandchild received after the child was found hanging by his belt on a blackboard last Thursday.

Tracy Davis says the principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in Conyers, Georgia, found her 5-year-old grandson hanging from the top of a chalkboard last week.

According to a report from Atlanta’s WSB-TV, it was discovered that the child has been punished this way before, after the child was interviewed by the Division of Family and Children Services.

“He was in distress because he was screaming and hollering,” Davis said. “I don’t want those teachers to ever have the privilege to teach again.”

The ABC affiliate reports that teachers involved have been punished for their cruel and unusual treatment of the child. The school district released a statement on the incident:

“Rockdale County Public Schools takes all matters of this kind very seriously and is currently conducting a full investigation.”
