“Californication” season 7, episode 6: “Kickoff” airs tonight on Showtime.
It’s the “Santa Monica Cop” kickoff party at Rath’s. Hank has an intimate notes session with the show’s female lead, Amy Taylor Walsh, while the male lead, Hashtag Black, has his eyes on Julia. As Charlie tries to manage Goldie, his head-case client, Stu makes him an offer. The party ends early when Levon breaks Rath’s cardinal rule.
“Californication” is based on a writer who tries to juggle his career, his relationship with his daughter and his ex-girlfriend, as well as his appetite for beautiful women. The troubled novelist (David Duchovny), who moved to California, suffers from writer’s block that complicates his relationships with his longtime girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone) and daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin).
The series was created by Tom Kapinos and stars Duchovny, McElhone, Martin, Pamela Adlon, Evan Handler and Madeline Zima. The show debuted on Showtime on Aug. 13, 2007, and has won several awards, including winning one Emmy Award (nominated for two others) and one Golden Globe Award (nominated for three others).
