While in attendance for her grandmother’s wake on Friday morning, Rihanna took to Twitter to grieve. “Dry cry, even tears… Even my heart cry but who cares?’ she posted. A string of tweets dedicated to her late grandmother poured forth, echoing the singer’s mourning. “Words can’t explain the essence of her beauty,” she said. “You and you alone no other one.”
Clara “Dolly” Brathwaithe passed away earlier this week in a New York City hospital, losing her long battle with cancer. “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you,” Rihanna tweeted on July 1. The pop star had previously cancelled all of her engagements when it was clear that her grandmother’s health had taken a turn for the worse. In the last two weeks, Rihanna posted a number of pictures and tweets documenting her final days at her relative’s bedside.
It is still unknown when Rihanna will return to the public eye, as she continues to mourn the loss of her grandmother. However, her new Sky Living TV Show is scheduled to air later this summer, and she will be featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine for August 2012.
