Medical Report: Zimmerman’s Nose ‘Likely Broken’ By Trayvon

The day after George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, the Florida native visited a medical center in Altamonte Springs, where his injuries were evaluated after the incident. Zimmerman was told that his nose was “likely broken” and though he had incurred wounds on the back of his head, stitches were not necessary.

A full medical report was released to the public this week, after being submitted as a part of a wave of evidence filed by Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara. Some details from the medical document were released back in May, when NBC News reported Zimmerman’s injuries. According to Zimmerman, an unarmed Martin attacked him, forcing him to use deadly force against the teen. In the report, doctors specify that Zimmerman had no slurred speech or dizziness, but admitted to “occasional nausea when thinking about violence last night.”

During Friday’s court hearing, O’Mara pointed to Zimmerman’s injuries, using them to support his client’s claim of self-defense. Zimmerman was given a prescription for painkillers, to go along with the anti-anxiety and hyperactivity drugs he had already been prescribed.

Zimmerman is currently awaiting a decision on his bond, which was revoked last month after the court found that he and his wife had withheld information about their finances. Seminole County Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester is expected deliver a ruling on Thursday, after reviewing the evidence submitted to the court by O’Mara.
