Marvin Gaye’s ex-wife, Anna Gordy Gaye, has died of natural causes at the age of 92. She was inside her home when her family discovered her body at 3 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 in Los Angeles.
She was also the older sister of Motown founder Berry Gordy. The last appearance made by Anna Gordy was in 2008, at a red carpet event where her brother was accepting an award.
Anna and Marvin Gaye were married in 1964. She was one of his major influences, as she helped him co-write two hit songs on his What’s Going On album. After the two split up in 1977, they remained close and when Gaye died in 1984, Anna took it very hard.
She is survived by her son Marvin Gaye III.
