The Toronto Raptors are in the midst of a complete overhaul of their brand, and rumors are that the rapper Drake is spearheading the new color scheme for the jerseys.
The Toronto Sun is reporting that the Raptors are considering a switch of their color scheme as part of their rebranding.
The Raptors hired hometown hero Drake to help in a massive rebranding effort and he reportedly is the brain behind the change of colors. The team reportedly decided not to change the mascot factoring in the cost and brand impact.
The Sun said that blue and white could also be an option, to tie the team to the Blue Jays. The Sun also noted that black and gold are the covers most often associated with Drake’s OVO Sound record label.
The new color scheme would go into effect for the 2015-16 season‚ if it is selected.
