As the race for the Oval Office is fought in the battleground states, another key presidential contest is being waged in the kitchen.
For the sixth time since 1992, the two candidates for first lady are competing in Family Circle’s Presidential Cookie Bake-Off.
The contenders are Michelle Obama’s white and dark chocolate-chip cookies and Ann Romney’s M&M cookies.
Both Michelle Obama and Ann Romney sent tweets today urging fans to vote for their recipe on Facebook, with both women claiming their cookies are family favorites.
While the votes have not yet been counted, pundits are already weighing in on Twitter.
“I would actually prefer a ‘presidential’ cookie bake-off,” wrote Jamelle Bouie, a fellow at the liberal American Prospect. “A modern man knows how to bake treats.”
