Linebacker Jon Beason is a New York Giant Now

Jon Beason Traded to New York GiantsThe Carolina Panther and the New York Giants have agreed to a trade that would have 28-year-old former All-Pro linebacker Jon Beason sporting a Giants jersey.

According to NFL.com:

“The Panthers have agreed to a trade that would send Beason to the New York Giants in exchange for a late-round draft pick, a source informed of the process told NFL Media Insider’s Ian Rapoport.”

Beason was placed on the injury reserve list last October, and he was struggling to perform while playing on the surgically repaired knee. Given his prior injuries, the deal is contingent on him passing a physical.

Beason is best known for his consistent effectiveness as a linebacker since entering the league in 2007. The three-time Pro-Bowler and two-time All-Pro had over 500 tackles in 64 straight starts before suffering a torn Achilles. He has only played seven games since, but hasn’t performed at the level he once was.

With the Giants desperate for good players, a healthy Beason could be a bargain. If that were to happen, it would be the break that the Giants could use to turn around their 0-4 start this season.
