Nicki Minaj Puts Too Much Personal Style in K-Mart Collection

Nicki Minaj is giving her fans their first look at her K-Mart collection, but it seems the hip-hop barbie put way too much of her own over- the-top personal style into a clothing line that is to be sold to the general masses.

In the world of fashion there is a huge difference between high fashion and commercial ready-to-wear looks. High fashion looks are usually dramatically displayed on runways, while commercial looks are displayed in store windows to appeal to the average shopper.

It seems as though Minaj didn’t really have the latter goal with her collection.

She shared some pictures of herself rocking three different looks from the line and she might be the only one who can pull off the ensembles.

One look pairs a high-waisted pair of galaxy leggings with a matching galaxy-print crop top.

One of the dresses features an unusual print on a short fitted style that Nicki claims hugs women in all the right places. However most women don’t have the expensive figure she has managed to pay for.

The print going down the middle of the dress will actually make the average woman’s body appear wider than normal, rather than make her look as curvy as the “Va Va Voom” rapper.

Her third look was a more casual get-up that may be the only outfit that the average shopper might consider grabbing off the racks.

It’s a simple pair of sweat pants with a colorful printed jacket that would be ideal for lazy days or quick errands.

Of course, one out of three isn’t exactly a great fashion report card for the new line. Nicki may have simply created a second version of her own closet rather than creating a collection that was inspired by her quirky style.

To make matters worse, the pieces seem to be reminiscent of the Nicki we knew before her major fashion transformation as opposed to the chic star that emerged after she fired her original glam squad.

In other words, it looks just like a collection you would expect to see at K-Mart — and that’s far from being a good thing.
