“Scandal” creator and writer Shonda Rhimes knows a thing or two about diversity on a major network. Shonda’s three top rated shows including “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” are noted for its diversity. So it’s not surprising the writer had something to say about ABC’s latest show “Bunheads” which features no black actors.
“Hey @abcfbunheads: really? You couldn’t cast even ONE young dancer of color so I could feel good about my kid watching this show?” tweeted Shonda, “NOT ONE?”
It didn’t take long before Shonda was forced to defend her statements when a Twitter follower stated,
“I’m white & never felt bad when my kids watched black performers..but whatever. Really sad choice of words”
Shonda responded,
“I def don’t feel bad when my kid watches white performers. Not at all what I’m saying.”
