First Lady Michelle Obama Invites "42" Cast To White House

42 is just 10 day from hitting theaters and the film is getting some presidential attention from the highest office in our nation.

First Lady Michelle Obama has invited the entire cast and crew of the film 42, and 80 high school and college students from across the country to the White House, to participate in an interactive student workshop to discuss the upcoming film about Jackie Robinson’s life.  42 is a story about the first African American baseball player to play in the major leagues.  The film tells the life story of Robinson and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey, Robinson’s signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color line.

Director of the Office of Public Engagement Paulette Aniskoff will conduct the workshop in the State Dining Room.  The event will kick off the discussion about how Jackie Robinson conducted himself through turbulent times and how students can apply that to there own struggles.

Rachel Robinson, the widow of Jackie Robinson, Chadwick Boseman (who plays the famed baseball player in the film), Harrison Ford and Brian Helgeland are all on the list to attend to talk about their experiences and answer students questions.

The event will be streaming live on www.whitehouse.gov/live. at 12pm.  If you miss the live taping, the full videos will be posted here http://wh.gov/live and at http://youtube.com/whitehouse. 42 hits theaters on April 12, 2013.
