'Taken 2' May Fall Short At The Box Office…

Taken 2 hits 3,661 theaters this weekend, making it the second largest release in history for a live-action in October.

The first Taken became an instant favorite for movie-goers, debuting to a surprising $24 million in 2009. At the end of its run, the film earned an incredible $145 million and despite its simple concept and theme, the film remains largely popular even after three years.

Taken star Liam Neeson used his newly acquired action clout and have starred in a few other action movies such as Clash of the Titans, Wrath of the Titans, Battleship and The Grey. None of which came even close to the money and popularity of the first Taken.

Take 2 is expected to attract a decent crowd this weekend, despite receiving some crushing reviews from critics. “Lazy and undeserving of Neeson,” Jeremy Kirk of Firstshowing.net, wrote in his piece describing the action scenes in the movie. Although, bad reviews probably wont deter fans from seeing the movie this opening weekend, but if fans feel the same as critics, they may feel cheated, therefore killing the turn out and its chance of matching the first Taken’s numbers.
