According to The Hollywood Reporter, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, the trashy TLC reality show phenomenon, has been confirmed for specials to air around Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Along with the HOLLAday specials, ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ will likely be back next spring for a complete second season. The show follows a lovable redneck family, focusing on 7 year old Alana Thompson. Alana or “Honey Boo Boo Child” is a pudgy beauty pageant star who stole the show on TLC’s other hit ‘Toddler’s and Tiara’s”.
While “Honey Boo Boo” was responsible for the spin off, she is by no means the only star of the new show. Every member of her family proves equally as entertaining. Alana’s family includes mama June, dad Mike (‘Papa Sugar Bear’), and her three sisters, Lauren (‘Pumpkin’),12, Jessica (‘Chubbs’), 15, and Lauren (‘Chickadee’), 17, the last of which just gave birth. It’s no surprise the show is getting more episodes considering it has averaged 2.3 million viewers for its eight episode first season.
On top of the additional episodes the family of 6 is asking for a raise. The Thompson family is asking for $10,000 each per episode instead of the $4,000 per episode they made on the first season. Seeing as how Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is TLC’s third highest rated show and a pop-culture sensation they deserve a little pay boost.
Personally, I think the holiday timing of the additionally episodes couldn’t be more perfect. Who wouldn’t want to feel better about their dysfunctional family by watching the hilarious antics of a dysfunctional redneck family?
Don’t miss the hour long Season 1 finale tonight at 10pm ET/PT.
