According to a recent article by The Collider, actors Christopher Plummer and Rosamund Pike have been added to the cast of Hector and the Search for Happiness, joining english funny-man Simon Pegg.
Though not slated for release until 2014, director Peter Chelsom is making significant strides to see that the novel-based film comes together strongly in pre-production. The information regarding the film’s latest additions was even released via press release, showing how much faith Chelsom has in his newest additions.
Hector and the Search for Happiness is based on the Francois Lelord book by the same name. It follows a quirky pschiatrist, played by Pegg, who feels as if he’s going nowhere because his patients aren’t getting any happier. He suddenly decides to quit and embark on a journey to see if happiness truly exists.
Rosamund Pike is set to play opposite Pegg as Hector’s longtime girlfriend. It’s a gamble when guessing what she’ll bring to the table, considering she’s had such highs as An Education and Pride & Prejudice while also having such lows as Johnny English Reborn and Surrogates.
Christopher Plummer, on the other hand, is definitely someone to be excited about casting. He will play Professor Coreman, the leading guru for Happiness Studies at UCLA. His work in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Up and The New World should speak for itself.
Simon Pegg and Rosamund Pike will also co-star in the upcoming Edgar Wright comedy The World’s End.
