Steven Spielberg can finally relax now that his film Lincoln has met it’s deadline and will be a contender for the Academy Awards.
Shooting continues in Virginia for the film based on the book Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Award winning writer Tony Kushner has inked the screenplay and Daniel Day Lewis stars as Abraham Lincoln. The film will not cover a full account of Lincoln’s life, but rather centers around the former commander in chief and the powerful men in his cabinet who opposed his mission to abolish slavery and preserve the union.
The star studded cast includes Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Sally Field, David Oyelowo, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Costabile, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, David Warshofsky, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Lee Pace, Jared Harris and Jackie Haley.
Lincoln hit theaters in select cities on November 9th. It will spread nationwide on November 16th.
