Eddie Murphy’s Daughter Bria Gets Married In Private 250-Person Ceremony In Beverly Hills, Comedian Gives Speech During Reception

It’s a proud moment for comedian and actor Eddie Murphy, whose eldest daughter, Bria Murphy, tied the knot with her fiancé, Michael Xavier. The beautiful couple celebrated the moment in front of 250 family and friends in a romantic private ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

According to People and the tidbits Xavier has shared on his Instagram page — Bria has yet to share on social media pages — the newlywed’s wedding party included the “Coming to America” star, who carried out the duties of walking the beautiful bride down the aisle, and his ex-wife, former reality star and model, Nicole Murphy.

Bria’s gown was designed by Netta BenShabu, while Michael wore a Knot Standard tuxedo styled by Dion Lattimore. The artist reposted a few clips shared by guests online to his stories on Sunday, July 10, capturing the bride and groom walking into what looked like the reception; the post included a glimpse at Bria’s beautiful bridesmaids.

In one post, Michael opened up about the first time he met the artist and actress, sharing, “This is very surreal for me. It was 10 years ago. Ten years ago, I saw Bria in a magazine, and I might have to take my time a little bit … not to get too emotional.”

Girl-dad Murphy gave a few words, and there was even a performance from R&B singer Johnny Gill, who was part of the group New Edition.

Last December, Bria, an artist and actress, announced her engagement by sharing photos on Instagram. In the caption, she wrote, “My heart, my best friend, my forever. I love you, always.” In another upload, she wrote, “I can’t wait to marry you.” At the same time, Michael, an actor, shared his post: “Forever my love.”

The “Beverly Hills Cop” actor often has spoken highly of his multi-talented daughter. While speaking to L.A. reporters at an art show for her in 2020, the Hollywood veteran shared, “I’m glad that people get to see how talented she is.” He added, “We’ve known for years how talented she is. It’s exciting to see her stuff up on the walls… I’m having all of those proud parent feelings.”

“I really got lucky with my kids,” the father of 10 continued. “There really isn’t a bad one in the bunch; everyone turned out to be really good people.”
