‘Make It Happen Cube’: DC Young Fly Claims Chris Tucker Said He Would Do ‘Friday’ Movie with Him If He Played His Son

Social media-born comedian DC Young Fly is making some bold claims about the fate of the purported “Friday” reboot

During an interview on “Club Shay Shay” with retired Denver Broncos star turned sports analyst Shannon Sharpe, DC, whose real name is John Whitfield, alleged that he was told by Chris Tucker, who portrayed Smokey in the ’90s cult classic film, that the only way fans would see the veteran actor in the highly requested movie redo is if he’s also in it as well.

“I ain’t supposed to say that, but I’m gonna say it anyway because we getting old, and I don’t care,” the 29-year-old began. “Chris Tucker out his mouth told me. Told me, literally this year–sorry O.G. I’ma say it, we’re getting old, okay. He said if I play his son, he’ll be in the movie. So if this ever reach out to anybody… get to anybody, I promise you out his mouth this is what he said to me. He said, ‘If you play my son. I’ll be in the movie.’ I swear.”

In the comments section, fans were asked whether they’d be open to seeing the “Wild N’ Out” veteran cast in the iconic movie should a decision to bring the franchise back be approved, and many didn’t hesitate to say yes.

One Youtube user strongly believed the rising star would not only be a fantastic casting choice but perhaps the best one, writing, “He probably the only person I know could pull it off with his energy, comedic intelligence quotient, and persona.” The fan added, “I could picture him and Chris Tucker doing their thing I would definitely watch it.”

“MAKE IT HAPPEN CUBE!!!” wrote another eager fan. “Bet, let Chris and Cube come in as dads, and have Cube son and DC be bois on the block,” wrote a third person.

Still, some questioned whether a new installment was even needed, noting that several of the actors from the original 1995 film had passed away, and suggesting that they make a whole new movie altogether.

“Do we need a new Friday at this point? Half of the old cast already passed away (AJ Johnson, John Witherspoon, Tiny Lister, Bernie ) wouldn’t be the same,” said one critic. Another person agreed, writing, “Exactly. Just make a new movie all together. Tryna make it into another Friday is gonna come off as trying too hard. Unless they do it like How High 2 where it’s just a whole new script, cast, etc and a movie on its own.”

It’s unclear when or if fans will ever get another “Friday” following a 2021 report from The Wall Street Journal that revealed some details behind the wait, writing “disagreements over creative direction, accusations that neither side is engaging in a sincere manner and finger-pointing over who is causing the delays.”
