Will Smith says that he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have never had infidelity in their marriage. In a recent interview with CBS News correspondent Gayle King, the four-time Oscar-nominated rapper-turned-actor unpacked his marital relationship, saying that the two are honest with each other about “everything.”
King asked Smith how he handles the “chatter” about his marriage, and he told the reporter, “I have decided that chatter about my life can be of a benefit to people.”
“Chatter is the first stage to having a real conversation and being able to truly explore if some of the things in your heart are loving or poisonous.”
The next question that King asked him was about how candid he and Pinkett Smith have been about the ups and downs, and “infidelity” in their marriage.
He interjected saying, “There’s never been infidelity in our marriage. Never.”
“Jada and I talk about everything, and we have never surprised one another with anything ever.”
Some fans called “foul” on his assessment.
One fan wrote in a comment online, “We don’t believe you.”
“Now will……. We all saw that red table talk!!” Nelli the Real reminded him.
Another tried to understand what he was saying, “He is saying he knew, and she knew, so to them it is not infidelity? Is that what he is trying to imply here?”
Ajd1 submitted a challenge, “Invite August to the cookout then.”
Others applauded the couple’s ability to talk to each other.
“Can’t be mad at that level of communication,” Iamjustmarcus wrote.
“It’s giving ‘What’s understood doesn’t need to be explained,’” IAmChinyere suggested Smith was rationalizing. “As long as she comes homes. It’s not where she’s at, it’s where she wants to be.”
While more “Smith” chatter is saturating the internet, the 53-year-old is racking up honors in this awards season for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of tennis champions, Venus and Serena.
On Sunday, Mar. 13, People magazine reported that Smith has won his first-ever “Best Leading Actor” at the 2022 BAFTA Awards. This is his fourth acting award for this film. Previously, he won the Best Leading equivalent at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, and the NAACP Image Award and is looking forward to the upcoming Critics Choice on March 13 and Academy Awards at the end of the month.
Alongside him at each award is Jada, cheering him on all the way.
